Everyone deserves a safe place to walk, whether it’s to get to school or work, catch a bus, go out to dinner, meet friends or be physically active. WalkWays is working to make that possible for more people.

WalkWays is an initiative to make Indianapolis more walkable and to get more people walking. We want Indianapolis to be safer, more accessible and inviting for people to walk, or roll, for those who use wheelchairs or other mobility devices.

Every resident and visitor should be safe and comfortable in our public rights of way. That’s why WalkWays is creating a comprehensive pedestrian program for Marion County and developing a pedestrian master plan that will help promote community walkability and walking.

WalkWays is funded by a Plan4Health grant from the American Planning Association, and is a partnership between Health by Design, the City of Indianapolis, the Marion County Public Health Department, the American Planning Association – Indiana Chapter and the Indiana Public Health Association.
